Your Langtang Helambu trek begins with a warm welcome in Kathmandu. As soon as you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, our dedicated team will be there to greet you. We'll then escort you to your hotel in a private vehicle, ensuring a comfortable and hassle-free start to your adventure, setting the tone for a memorable journey.

If you miss the regular trip briefing, don't worry. We'll provide it at a convenient time before departure, Pokhara, either before a World Heritage tour the following morning or the next day; we'll then proceed to Pokhara by tourist bus, departing around 7 a.m. from Sorakhutte, Kathmandu.

Porter, Luggage, and extra Luggage storage: 

We cover the cost of porters for your luggage, but the maximum weight limit is 12 kg per person. Each porter carries luggage for two trekkers; please share a duffle bag with another. Our porters will carry up to 25 kg each. If you need a porter for yourself, we can arrange that. We also recommend carrying a small backpack for your valuables and important documents. You can leave extra luggage at our office for free and at a hotel in Pokhara, Namche, etc.

Accommodation:

Accommodation during the Langtang Helambu Trek varies. Along the trekking route, you'll stay in guest houses, commonly known as teahouses. These basic lodges offer rooms, dining areas, and toilets. The quality of guest houses varies but remains affordable and convenient for trekkers. Rooms typically have twin or bunk beds and shared bathrooms, and blankets and pillows are provided. Our company can offer a sleeping bag if you don't have one. You'll spend nine nights in lodges along the trekking route and three nights in a hotel in Kathmandu. Some places and lodges have attached bathrooms, while others offer simple yet clean rooms with shared facilities. We can arrange a solo trekking service if you're traveling solo, but availability may be limited during peak season in some places. In Kathmandu, your hotel room will have excellent amenities, including TV, 24/7 hot water, electricity, and laundry service.

Meals during the trip:

Eating well is essential since the Langtang Helambu Trek takes you through the high Himalayas. You'll have plenty of nutritious meals in the trekking regions, although the options won't be as varied as in the cities. You'll get nineteen breakfasts, fifteen lunches, and sixteen dinners during the Trek. The menu includes local, Asian, and Western dishes, but it gets more straightforward as you climb higher. Try popular Nepali foods like lentils, rice, curry, dumplings, noodles, Spagaties, and many more. We highly recommend eating fresh vegetables and drinking liquids like green tea, lemon tea, hot lemon, ginger tea, and garlic soup, especially at high altitudes. While non-vegetarian options are available during the Trek, we suggest avoiding them for hygiene reasons. It's also best to steer clear of dairy, cheese, alcohol, caffeine, and hot chocolate. Personal expenses like alcoholic drinks and extra beverages at lodges or cafes aren't included in the package. 

Drinking water:

Nepal is the second country in the world regarding water sources after Brazil. According to the Nepal government, only 27% of people here have clean drinking water. You can buy mineral water in teahouses, but it is expensive; people prefer plastic bottles in some trekking areas. So, there are some safe drinking water stations where you can refill your bottle. However, we recommend carrying Steripen, iodine drops, water purification tablets for safe drinking, and refillable water bottles for boiled or filtered water. We strongly advise not to drink from taps, wells, and rivers in trekking areas. However, in all the city areas, Mineral water is available at a reasonable cost everywhere.

Extra Personal expenses:

While most expenses during the trek are covered, you'll need to spend money on accommodations and meals in Kathmandu and Pokhara, Souvenirs, and additional beverages. We estimate about USD 10-20 per trekking day for miscellaneous expenses. Personal Expenses: 

Toilet Facilities in Langtang Helambu Trekking:

Most teahouses have Western-style flush toilets during mountain treks, especially at lower elevations. But as you go higher, find simple squat toilets along the trails and teahouses at higher altitudes. These toilets usually have water or toilet paper, but it's a good idea to bring your toilet paper just in case. You can also use restrooms at nearby teahouses or find a private spot along the trekking routes.

Internet Connectivity:

While trekking in the Himalayan region of Nepal, connecting with your family and friends is also a good idea. You can find internet access at teahouses and lodges, but it might be extra minimal cost. The signal might be weak because of the remote location. You can also get internet access using a local SIM card and data packages available at Kathmandu airport or nearby shops in Thamel and Pokhara. You'll have a passport-sized photo and a copy of your passport to get a SIM card. It's a good idea to compare prices and data packages from telecom companies like Ncell and Nepal Telecom before buying. Knowing about teahouse connectivity. Electricity voltage and plugs:

 

However, 95 % of Nepali people have access to electricity as of May 29, 2023. almost popular trekking routes, teahouses, and lodges have electricity. However, some isolated and solo trekking tea houses in the jungle don't have electricity; Most of these tea houses let travelers charge their devices for a small fee. The average electrical voltage in Nepal is 230 volts, with plug types like Type C, Type D, and Type M. Travellers should bring a suitable adapter and, if needed, a voltage converter for their electronic devices.

Communication:

The guest houses in the trekking regions have internet access. You could buy a SIM card at Tribhuvan International Airport Kathmandu and Pokhara. However, the signal may need to be more assertive at high altitudes. Our office keeps in touch with all trekking teams via the trek guide at least once daily to ensure everything goes as planned.

Trip Extension:

Suppose you have extra days in Nepal after the Trek. In that case, we can arrange a tour, overnight stay at Nagarkot Balthali or any other place around Kathmandu and Chitwan, jungle safari, paragliding, rafting, canyoning, or other treks. Do not hesitate to Inform us. We will create the best for you.

Trek Difficulty:

The Langtang Helambu trek presents an easy moderate and challenging yet enriching adventure. Your enjoyment of the trip will largely depend on your level of fitness. We recommend building stamina at least two weeks before the trek. Activities include jogging, running, swimming, or taking long hikes for the journey ahead.

Completing this trek is achievable even if you're a beginner, although you must maintain a reasonable fitness level. Prior trekking experience can be advantageous, though it is optional. All you need is the readiness to hike steadily for 4-8 hours, navigating tricky terrain.

Suppose trekkers have pre-existing medical conditions, such as lung or heart diseases. In that case, they are advised to consult their physician before booking the trek to ensure their safety and well-being throughout the journey.

End of Trek:

On the 17 day, you'll take a private transportation from Melamchi Bazzar back to Kathmandu, which takes about seven hours. Alternatively, you can fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu for an extra fee. In the evening, we'll host a farewell dinner in Kathmandu.

Departure:

On the day of your departure flight, we'll come to pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport. We hope you enjoyed the Nepal trek and will consider returning for more adventures in Nepal.

Feedback:

After you complete the Langtang Helambu Trek, we'll organize a farewell dinner in Kathmandu and present you with a trekking achievement certificate. After the dinner, you can provide feedback about the Trek on travel portals.

If you can't book in advance, we offer last-minute bookings. Full payment is required 24 hours before departure. While we do our best to accommodate last-minute bookings, delays may occur due to unforeseen.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu, Capital of Nepal

 Arrive in Kathmandu & transfer to Hotel Arrive at the Tribhuwan international airport where you will be welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel. This day is simply an arrival day and there will be no any organized activities. So, you will have some free time to relax or walk around for local sights. A pre-departure meeting will be held early evening and you will be introduced with your trekking guide. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 2 : Drive to Syabrubensi

Your journey begins early in the morning, around 7:00 AM, after breakfast at your Hotel, with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, the gateway to the famous Langtang Valley Trek. The drive covers approximately 122 km (76 miles) and takes around 6–7 hours by road. The first section of the journey follows a smooth blacktopped highway along the beautiful Trishuli River, passing charming Tamang villages, terraced hills, forests, and scenic mountain landscapes. Along the way, there are short stops for tea breaks, photography, and panoramic views of the river valley.

Upon arrival in Syabrubesi at an altitude of 1,460 m / 4,790 ft, check into the guesthouse and relax in the peaceful mountain atmosphere. A small valley adjoins the Bhotekoshi River. This traditional Tamang village offers warm hospitality, local cuisine, and the perfect introduction to trekking in the Langtang region. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.

 

Day 3 : Trek to Lama Hotel

On your Trek's first day, the Langtang Valley Trek begins with an exciting journey into nature and culture. After a 15-minute walk from Syabrubesi, you’ll cross the Bhote Koshi River and pass through a charming Tamang village with a local monastery.

The trail then follows the Langtang Khola River as you enter Langtang National Park, home to rich vegetation and diverse wildlife. Along the way, you may spot Red Pandas, Himalayan Black Bears, Snow Leopards, Musk Deer, Langur Monkeys, Himalayan Tahr, and Goral. Trek through the tranquil forests of pine, oak, and bamboo, passing settlements like Pairo Thapla and Bamboo (1,960m). The serene sound of the river and birdsong accompanies you as you steadily ascend to reach the peaceful Lama Hotel, where you’ll stay overnight at a cosy mountain lodge.


 

Day 4 : Trek to Mundu via Langtang village

After breakfast at Lama Hotel, we begin our trek around 7:00 AM, following the beautiful trail along the Langtang Khola. The path starts with a gentle climb and gradually becomes steeper as we walk through dense forests of hemlock, oak, maple, and colourful rhododendron trees, which is also home to the monkey-deer leopard and the endangered Red Panda.

The trail passes through Ghodatabela, Thangshyap, and Hyamki, crossing several mani walls, prayer wheels, and Buddhist prayer flags along the way. We stop for lunch at Ghodatabela, which was once a temporary Tibetan resettlement area and is now home to a Nepalese army post.

Continuing, we reach the beautiful village of Mundu, near the old Langtang Village. Langtang Village was heavily damaged during the 2015 earthquake and avalanche, and 310 people lost their lives. After the earthquake, many lodges were later rebuilt in Mundu as a safer location. The area stands as a symbol of the local community's strength and resilience.As the valley widens, the trail passes seasonal grazing areas used by local herders during the summer. Day 5 : Trek to Kyanjin Gompa

After breakfast at Mundu, begin a short yet scenic trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3,850m), one of the highlights of the Langtang Valley Trek. The trail takes about 3 hours and passes through spiritual Buddhist landmarks, including colourful prayer flags, ancient chortens, long Mani walls, and intricately carved stones.

Arriving at Kyanjin Gompa by lunchtime, you’ll have the afternoon free to explore. You can hike up to Kyanjin Ri (4,773m) for breathtaking views of Langtang Lirung, surrounding Himalayan peaks, and nearby glaciers. Visit the historic Kyanjin Monastery, believed to date back to the 7th century, and the traditional cheese factory, run by the Nepal Government. Spend the night at a cosy tea house in Kyanjin, surrounded by peaceful mountain landscapes and rich local culture. overnight at the guest house in Kynjinngonpa.
 

Day 6 : Full day excursion in Kyajin Ri , Tserko Ri or Langshishar Kharka

Today is one of the most exciting and challenging days of your Langtang Helambu Trek, dedicated to exploring the breathtaking surroundings of Kyanjin Village. After an early breakfast, begin your hike to Tserko Ri (5,003m) — one of the most rewarding viewpoints in the Langtang region. You will visit the Kyangjin monastery and the cheese factory, walk up the moraine to see the spectacular ice faces and tumbling glaciers of Langtang Lirung or ascend Kyangjin Ri (4350m).

The steep ascent to Tserko Ri takes about 4–5 hours to the top and about 6–7 hours round-trip. Langshishar is your choice, offering a stunning panoramic view of the Tibetan Plateau, the Langtang Himalayan range, Yala Peak, and nearby glaciers. On clear days, you can also see the majestic Mount Shishapangma (8,027m), the 14th highest mountain in the world. For a shorter hike, visit Kyanjin Ri (4,773m) for equally spectacular views. In the afternoon, explore local homes and see a Tamang and Sherpa culture tea house in Kyanjin. Overnight at the guest house in Kyanjin.

Day 7 : Trek back to Lama Hotel From Kyanjin,

After breakfast at Kyanjin Gompa, begin your return journey along the same Langtang Helambu trekking trail. Today’s trek is mostly downhill, making it easier than previous days, though it’s still a long and scenic descent. You’ll leave the alpine terrain behind and re-enter lush green Jungle filled with rhododendron, oak, and pine trees. The sound of the Langtang Khola River, cool mountain breeze, and rich vegetation create a refreshing and peaceful trekking experience as you make your way down the valley.

Along the way, you’ll pass charming mountain villages and scenic viewpoints, Langtang, Chyamki, Thangsyapu, Ghoda Tabela, and Gumnachowk, perfect for rest stops and photos. We stop for Lunch at Ghoratabala. After lunch, we continue down to Lama Hotel (2,470m), nestled in a tranquil forest. The lower altitude and soothing sounds of nature. Make it an ideal place to relax and enjoy a comfortable night’s stay after a rewarding day on the Langtang Valley Trek. Overnight at the Lama Hotel.
 

Day 8 : Trek to Thulo Syabru Gaun

Today we walk through bamboo & rhododendron forest where we may see the local wild boar as well as other animal and birds on the way to Thulo-Syabru village. En route we have marvelous and close-up view of Mt. Ganesh Himal. Firstly we do easy downhill walk following the river bank but last part we steeply climb up hill for couple of hours until we reach the village at Thulo Syabru. Overnight at lodge
 

Day 9 : Trek Thulo Syabru village to Sing Gompa ( Chandan bari)

Today we walk around 5 hours through dense forest of pine and rhododendron to reach Sing Gompa (Chandan Bari) where we stay overnight at lodge. The trail from here is mostly uphill with typically Himalayan terrain. We enjoy excellent views of the mountain and natural scenery from open areas we reach. After arrival in hotel we refreshed and then make an excursion to cheese factory as well as forested area.
 

Day 10 : Trek to Gosainkunda

Today we follow a wonderful trail to reach at holy Gosainkunda Lake passing through Cholagpati and Lauribinayak. This area is the homeland of the Tamangs and Bhotias. Here we spend a short time observing rural mountain lifestyles and the cultural contrasts between Hindu and Buddhist villages. In the evening we are able to simply relax or take a walk around the lake and surrounding area. Overnight at lodge
 

Day 11 : Trek to Ghopte

The trek from Gosaikunda to Ghopte is one of the most challenging and scenic sections of the Langtang Helambu Trek, which leads to the northern part of Gosainkunda. The trail covers approximately 12 km (7.4 miles) and takes around 6-7 hours. Starting from Gosaikunda (4,380 m), the route climbs steeply to Laurebina Pass (4,610 m) before descending through rocky trails and alpine landscapes to Ghopte (3,530 m).

Trekkers enjoy stunning mountain scenery, alpine vegetation, rhododendron and pine forests, and opportunities to spot wildlife such as Himalayan Tahr, Blue Sheep, and colourful Himalayan Monal birds. The trail can be steep, rocky, and slippery, especially near the pass, so trekking poles are recommended. Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are the best seasons for this high-altitude trek.

Day 12 : Trek Ghopte To Melamchi Gaon via Tharepati

The trek from Ghopte to Tharepati is one of the most beautiful parts of the Gosaikunda, Langtang Valley, and Helambu trekking route. The trail covers around 15 km (9 miles) and takes approximately 4 hours to reach Tharepati. Starting from Ghopte (3,440 m / 11,286 ft), the path passes through rhododendron and pine forests, rocky trails, and peaceful mountain landscapes before reaching Tharepati (3,640–3,690 m / 11,942–12,106 ft).

Along the trail, trekkers can enjoy stunning views of Jugal Himal, Langtang Himal, Gyanchyanpo, and many other Himalayan peaks. Tharepati is an important junction connecting the Gosaikunda region with the Helambu Valley trek.

From Tharepati, the trail divides into two routes. One trail descends toward Kutumsang, Gulphu Bhanjyang, and finally to Kathmandu via Sundarijal. The other route continues steeply downhill to Melamchi Gaon ( Melamchhi Ghyang) (2,530 m / 8,300 ft), a traditional village of the Helmo people. The trek to Melamchi Gaon covers about 5–6 km (3–4 miles) and takes about 2 hours, descending steeply from Tharepati. Trek covers usually walk 7–8 hours in total for the day. This section offers beautiful forests, traditional villages, and an authentic Himalayan trekking experience. overnight at Melamchi Gaon.
 

Day 13 : Melamchhi gaun to Tarke Ghayang

After breakfast at the hotel, we start our trek from Melamchi Gaon to Tarkeghyang. Today, we walk through a beautiful, culturally rich part of the Helambu trekking route, passing through peaceful forests, rivers, and traditional mountain villages.

The trail first descends through rhododendron, pine, oak, and bamboo forests before reaching the Melamchi Khola suspension bridge at around 1,920 m / 6,299 ft. After crossing the river, the trail climbs uphill through scenic forest paths and rural farmland toward the largest and most beautiful Sherpa and Hyolmo villages in the Helambu region.

The route offers trekkers traditional stone houses, prayer flags, chortens, and peaceful mountain scenery. Tarkeghyang is also famous for its ancient monastery, believed to date back to the 8th century. On clear days, you can enjoy views of the Jugal Himal, Ganesh Himal and Langtang Himal ranges.

Day 14 : Trek to Aama Yangry and back to Tarkeghyang

Today is one of the most rewarding but difficult days of the Helambu trek. The hike from Tarkeghyang to Ama Yangri (3,771 m / 12,372 ft) is a scenic round-trip that takes about 6–7 hours. This beautiful trail passes through dense rhododendron, pine, and oak forests with peaceful mountain surroundings.

The path gradually climbs uphill from the traditional village of Tarkeghyang, becoming steeper near the summit. There are no tea houses along the route, so carrying water and snacks is recommended. During spring, the trail is filled with colourful red and pink rhododendron flowers, and trekkers may also spot Himalayan birds, deer, and langur monkeys.

From the top of Ama Yangri, you can enjoy breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views of the Langtang Range, Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa, Gaurishankar, and even distant views of other Himalayan peaks on clear days. The trail is also decorated with Buddhist prayer flags, chortens, and small stupas, adding cultural beauty to the journey.

After enjoying the incredible mountain scenery, we return along the same forest trail back to Tarkeghyang, one of the oldest Hyolmo and Sherpa villages in the Helambu region.

 

Day 15 : Drive from Tarkeghyang to Kathmandu

Drive from Tarkeghyang to Kathmandu

After breakfast at our hotel in Tarkeghyang, we begin the scenic drive back to Kathmandu via Sermathang, Kakani, Melamchi Bazaar, and the beautiful Helambu Valley. The journey takes around 5–7 hours by 4WD jeep, due to rough, steep mountain roads in some sections.

The route passes through traditional Sherpa and Tamang villages, terraced rice and millet fields, forests, chortens, and Buddhist mani walls. Along the drive, you can enjoy beautiful mountain landscapes and local village life.

Some parts of the road were affected by the Melamchi flood of 2021, caused by heavy rainfall and landslides in the upper Melamchi Khola region, the Melamchi water supply pridge project for Kathmandu. However, reconstruction work is almost finished.

After arriving in Kathmandu, the trek officially ends. In the evening, enjoy a special farewell dinner at an authentic Nepali restaurant, featuring cultural cuisine and traditional hospitality.
