Tsum Valley Trek Itinerary:
Start a 11 day trip to make a tour around the Tsum Valley. Start with sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley and proceed to trek to villages, Hot springs, and Lokpa . Explore the upper part of Tsum Valley which has ancient Monasteries and offers a spectacular view of the Himalayas. Lastly, return to the beginning point and descend to Kathmandu with the beautiful memories of this cultural and beautiful trek.
The Lower Manaslu trek is ideal for beginners, as it covers a moderate distance of 70 to 100 kilometers (43 to 62 miles), depending on the route chosen. Each day's hike is manageable, allowing trekkers to fully enjoy the breathtaking scenery and rich culture of the Manaslu region.
Tsum Valley Trek is a moderate 11-day trek that takes clients to the culturally isolated Tsum Valley in the Manaslu region. Moving throughout the country by jeep, you will reach the town of Soti Khola which is situated on the banks of Budhi Gandaki River. Starting with the valley and river view tracks and then crossing the river, the trek takes one to Jagat with a halt at hot baths at Tatopani for muscle aches. For the next few days walk through villages and paddy fields, Lokpa is the starting point to Tsum Valley. Here step by step commences your exploration of the Upper Tsum Valley. Travelers can also visit the monasteries of Rachen Gompa, Mu Gompa, and Dephyudonma Gompa besides getting to see the startling views of Ganesh Himal, Boudha Himal, and Himal Chuli. Last but not least, you will retrace and walk back to Macha Khola and feel the Infrastructure and geometry of the landscape reversed and back to the jeep to Kathmandu.

Porter, Luggage, and Extra Luggage Storage:
We cover the cost of porters for your Luggage, but the maximum weight limit is 12 kg per person. Each porter carries Luggage for two trekkers; please share a duffle bag with another. Our porters will carry up to 25 kg each. If you need a porter for yourself, we can arrange that. We also recommend carrying a small backpack for your valuables and important documents. You can leave extra Luggage at our office for free and at a hotel in Pokhara, Namche, etc.

Lower Manaslu offers a unique lodging experience steeped in local tradition. Accommodation primarily consists of guesthouses and teahouses operated by resident families. These establishments provide a more basic yet comfortable environment compared to typical hotels. Shared rooms and dormitories are the norm, though some guesthouses may offer a limited number of private rooms. Meals, often featuring delicious home-cooked fare, are frequently included with your stay. The guesthouses and teahouses are strategically situated along the trekking routes, allowing you to rest comfortably and appreciate the breathtaking Himalayan vistas.
Meals during the trip:

Most teahouses have Western-style flush toilets during mountain treks, especially at lower elevations. But as you go higher, find simple squat toilets along the trails and teahouses at higher altitudes. These toilets usually have water or toilet paper, but it's a good idea to bring your toilet paper just in case. You can also use restrooms at nearby teahouses or find a private spot along the trekking routes.
Internet Connectivity:
While trekking in the Himalayan region of Nepal, connecting with your family and friends is also a good idea. You can find internet access at teahouses and lodges, but it might be extra minimal cost. The signal might be weak because of the remote location. You can also get internet access using a local SIM card and data packages available at Kathmandu airport or nearby shops in Thamel and Pokhara. You'll have a passport-sized photo and a copy of your passport to get a SIM card. After breakfast at your Hotel, your Tsum Valley Trek begins with a public bus ride from New Baspark Kathmandu to Machha Khola, offering an authentic local experience as per our Package. However, a private jeep can be arranged at an additional cost of 175 $ for your comfort and flexibility. Turning at Malekhu toward Dhading Besi, the road winds through terraced farmlands and scenic countryside to Aarughat, the gateway to the Manaslu region. After breakfast, your adventure continues with a scenic trek from Maccha Khola to Jagat. The trail follows the Budhi Gandaki River, crossing several thrilling suspension bridges and passing through lush forests and traditional Gurung and Tamang villages.
The route offers stunning views of waterfalls, terraced hillsides, and the rich biodiversity of the Manaslu Conservation Area. This gradual ascent is perfect for acclimatisation, allowing trekkers to adjust comfortably to higher altitudes.

Today’s trek from Jagat to Lokpa takes about 5–6 hours, covering nearly 17 km (10 miles) of scenic Himalayan terrain. After breakfast, the trail descends through Sirdibas and continues toward Salleri, where you’ll see colourful Buddhist prayer flags and small gompas reflecting local culture. You may also sample local millet-based drinks in village teahouses along the way.
At Phillim, your permits will be checked before following the trail along the Budhi Gandaki River. The route features striking rock carvings, rhododendron forests, and towering pine-covered cliffs that showcase the natural beauty of the Manaslu Conservation Area.
Crossing the Siyar Khola Bridge, the trail branches toward Tsum Valley, leading to the peaceful village of Lokpa. After arrival, relax by the fireplace, share stories and legends with fellow trekkers, and enjoy a hearty dinner at your tea house in Lokpa.

As you enter the Upper Tsum region, the landscape and culture become distinctly Tibetan in character. Traditional stone houses, colourful prayer flags, and warm-hearted locals reflect the valley’s deep spiritual and cultural roots. The people of Tsum, Gurung, and Tamang origin trace their ancestry back to Tibet, adding a unique charm to the region. Today’s trek from Chekampar to Nile takes around 3 to 4 hours, covering approximately 9 km (5 miles) through the serene landscapes of the Upper Tsum Valley. The trail gradually ascends, providing an insight into the area's rich Buddhist history as well as stunning vistas of the nearby peaks.
Along the way, you’ll visit one of the meditation caves of Milarepa, the legendary 11th-century Tibetan yogi and scholar who once travelled through this sacred valley. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore the nearby Rachen Gompa, a beautiful monastery that serves as a spiritual centre for local nuns.
As you approach Nile, the last significant settlement before the Tibetan border, you’ll feel a sense of peace and spirituality that defines this remote region. Overnight at Nile.
Today’s journey is a spiritual highlight of the Tsum Valley Trek, as you hike from Nile to Mu Gompa, the valley’s most sacred monastery. The trek takes through a serene and inspiring Himalayan landscape.
As you ascend toward Mu Gompa, the mountains rise majestically around you, creating a peaceful and meditative atmosphere. This ancient monastery, home to Buddhist lamas and monks, is adorned with vibrant murals of Tara and Guru Padmasambhava, reflecting centuries of devotion and artistry.
