Personal expenses like alcoholic drinks and extra beverages at lodges or cafes aren't included in the package.

Drinking water:

Nepal is the second country in the world regarding water sources after Brazil. According to the Nepal government, only 27% of people here have clean drinking water. You can buy mineral water in teahouses, but it is expensive; people prefer plastic bottles in some trekking areas. So, there are some safe drinking water stations where you can refill your bottle. However, we recommend carrying Steripen, iodine drops, water purification tablets for safe drinking, and refillable water bottles for boiled or filtered water. We strongly advise not to drink from taps, wells, and rivers in trekking areas. However, in all the city areas, Mineral water is available at a reasonable cost everywhere.

Extra Personal Expenses:

While most expenses during the Trek are covered, you'll need to spend money on accommodations and meals in Kathmandu and Pokhara, souvenirs, and additional beverages. We estimate about USD 10-20 per trekking day for miscellaneous expenses.

Toilet Facilities in Annapurna Base Camp Trekking:

Most teahouses have Western-style flush toilets during mountain treks, especially at lower elevations. But as you go higher, find simple squat toilets along the trails and teahouses at higher altitudes. These toilets usually have water or toilet paper, but it's a good idea to bring your toilet paper just in case. You can also use restrooms at nearby teahouses or find a private spot along the trekking routes.

The signal might be weak because of the remote location. You can also get internet access using a local SIM card and data packages available at Kathmandu airport or nearby shops in Thamel and Pokhara. You'll have a passport-sized photo and a copy of your passport to get a SIM card. It's a good idea to compare prices and data packages from telecom companies like Ncell and Nepal Telecom before buying. Knowing about teahouse connectivity. Our guide will suggest connections for you.

Electricity voltage and plugs:

However, 95 % of Nepali people have access to electricity as of May 29, 2023. almost popular trekking routes, teahouses, and lodges have electricity. However, some isolated and solo trekking tea houses in the jungle don't have electricity; Most of these tea houses let travelers charge their devices for a small fee. The average electrical voltage in Nepal is 230 volts, with plug types like Type C, Type D, and Type M. Travellers should bring a suitable adapter and, if needed, a voltage converter for their electronic devices.

Communication:

The guest houses in the trekking regions have internet access. You could buy a SIM card at Tribhuvan International Airport Kathmandu and Pokhara. However, the signal may need to be more assertive at high altitudes. Our office keeps in touch with all trekking teams via the trek guide at least once daily to ensure everything goes as planned.

Important Note

Best time to travel to Nepal and Annapurna Basecamp trekking:

Nepal is a country of differences with various landscapes, including towering mountain ranges, lush forests, and a vibrant cultural heritage. The best time to travel to Nepal depends on your preferences and the type of excursions or events you intend to participate in. Generally, Nepal has four distinct seasons, each with unique charms and challenges.

Winter Season: Cold temperatures start in late November or early December, but clear skies suit budget travelers. Lower-elevation treks and skiing/snowboarding in ski resorts are popular activities.

Spring Season: From late February 15 to Jun 15, warmer temperatures make it perfect for Trekking. Rhododendrons bloom, adding to the scenic beauty. Celebrations like Holi and Buddha Jayanti occur during this time.

Summer Season: Monsoon rains from June 15 to August make trekking challenging, but it's a great time to experience lush greenery and agriculture. Ideal for peace seekers and cultural tours of cities accessible by road.

Autumn Season: September to November is Nepal's best time for Trekking and outdoor activities. Clear skies, pleasant temperatures, and festivals like Dashain Tihar and Chhat make this period ideal for experiencing Nepali culture.

Weather Conditions of Annapurna Base Camp Trekking:

Nepal each season offers unique experiences during the ABC Trek. Spring brings mild weather and blooming rhododendrons, while summer provides lush vegetation despite the monsoon. Autumn features clear skies and vibrant festivals, and winter offers snowy peaks with fewer crowds.

Spring temperatures range from 12 to -5 degrees Celsius from March to May. Summer temperatures range between 18 and -3 degrees Celsius from June to August. Autumn, the peak season, has temperatures from 29 to -11 degrees Celsius. Winter brings snow and temperatures from 9.3 to -20 degrees Celsius. However, according to the government and metrologists, the Monsoon starts on June 13 and ends on October 2.

Our destination experiences four distinct seasons: summer, spring, autumn, and winter. Summer, also known as the rainy season, is characterised by frequent rainfalls and muddy terrain, which can affect certain outdoor activities. On the other hand, spring brings low rain, clear skies, and a vibrant natural landscape with blooming flowers. Prepare for harsh weather and extremely low temperatures in winter, as this can make the trek even more challenging. However, the sight of the snow-covered trail will be rewarding. These weather patterns can help you plan your activities and pack accordingly.

High Altitude Sickness and Acclimatisation:

Altitude sickness is common among hikers in Nepal's Himalayan Region. It occurs when the body doesn't receive enough oxygen at higher elevations, resulting in headaches and dizziness. Acclimatisation is essential to prevent this. It means gradually getting used to higher altitudes by resting, drinking fluids, and ascending slowly. Spending an extra day at lower elevations before going higher is the best way to avoid altitude sickness. Hydration is a primary concern during trekking, as it helps prevent dehydration, which can exacerbate altitude sickness. Drinking plenty of water, tea, and soup can help. Trekkers can also take medicines like acetazolamide or dexamethasone to relieve symptoms. However, it's best to consult a doctor first. Proper acclimatization techniques are like "climb high, sleep low," and please keep in mind that during your trek, you should always stay hydrated, which would reduce the risk of altitude sickness. Booking with an experienced guide can ensure you get the right advice and help during your trek.

Fitness and Training:

Trekking and climbing in Nepal's Hilly region and high-terrain Himalayas require physical fitness and training for a safe journey. Trekking involves walking long distances, sometimes for hours daily, over different terrain and at high altitudes. To build stamina and prepare the body, it's best to start fitness activities a few months before the trip, including cardio, strength, and endurance training.

Your journey to Nepal can be safe and successful with physical fitness, training, and preparation. Be aware of the risks and challenges, and take the necessary safety measures to ensure a fun and secure trip.

Packing Checklist:

When planning a trip to Nepal, packing the right gear is crucial for a successful journey, which includes clothing, equipment, and accessories tailored to your trek and the time of year. If you're trekking, pack light unless you're hiring a porter. Consider renting or buying gear in Nepal to save space. Ensure your equipment is high-quality and in good condition to avoid problems in the mountains. Take our suggestions to prepare your baggage correctly. Lastly, double-check the weather forecast and ensure you have all the necessary items for a safe and comfortable trip.

Typical Day:

Each day of the Trek brings new experiences as you explore different places, enjoy breathtaking landscapes, and converse with locals to learn more about their customs and culture. Our guides will provide information about the places you visit. Trekking usually starts around 7-8 am, depending on the distance to cover and the terrain. We'll stop for lunch after about three hours of Trekking, usually on the way to our destination for the day. After lunch, you'll have an hour to rest before continuing the Trek. The afternoon trek is shorter, and once we reach our destination, you'll have time to explore until it gets dark. Dinner is served around 6-7 pm, followed by a briefing from your trek leader about the next day's plan. Afterwards, you can relax and entertain yourself with games or learn Nepali words from our crew.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Short Trek is a condensed yet immersive adventure designed for trekkers with limited time who still want to experience the thrill of standing beneath the towering peaks of the Annapurna Himalayas. In just 5 days, this trek takes you from the lush green lowlands to the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary at 4,130 meters. It's an ideal choice for active travelers, adventure seekers, and those wanting a fast but rewarding Himalayan escape. Asiana Treks & Tours organizes this trek with expert planning, ensuring proper acclimatization and maximum enjoyment despite the short duration.

Although it’s only 5 days, this trek involves several hours of trekking each day (typically 6–8 hours) on steep and uneven terrain, including a significant altitude gain. A moderate level of fitness is required, along with a positive attitude and mental readiness for back-to-back hiking days. Prior trekking experience is helpful but not mandatory. At Asiana Treks & Tours, we provide experienced guides who help pace the trek and support you throughout the journey.

The best seasons for the ABC Short Trek are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). These months offer clear skies, stable weather, and breathtaking mountain views. While the trek can be done year-round, monsoon (June to August) brings heavy rain and slippery trails, while winter (December to February) can bring snow at higher elevations, potentially making the trek more challenging.

Our ABC Short Trek package includes transportation from Pokhara to the trailhead and back, all necessary permits (ACAP and TIMS), an experienced trekking guide, porters (on request), lodge accommodations during the trek, and three meals a day while trekking. The package also includes a pre-trek briefing and emergency support throughout the journey. Not included are flights to Pokhara, travel insurance, personal trekking gear, snacks, and gratuities.

You’ll stay in local tea houses, which are simple but comfortable lodges run by local families. Rooms typically offer twin-sharing beds, warm blankets, and basic amenities. Meals include a variety of local and international dishes like dal bhat (Nepali rice and lentils), noodles, soups, pasta, and pancakes. Asiana Treks & Tours ensures clean, safe meals and can accommodate vegetarian or special dietary requirements with advance notice.

Annapurna Base Camp sits at 4,130 meters (13,550 feet). While altitude sickness is less common on this short trek, it’s still possible, especially with the rapid elevation gain. Asiana Treks & Tours designs the itinerary carefully to minimize risk, and our guides are trained to recognize and respond to early symptoms. Staying hydrated, ascending gradually, and avoiding alcohol help reduce altitude-related issues.

Yes. Two permits are required for this trek: the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and the TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) card. Both are arranged by Asiana Treks & Tours and are included in your trekking package.

Essential items include warm layered clothing, a down jacket, comfortable trekking boots, a daypack, water bottles, and sun protection. A detailed packing list will be provided upon booking. For those traveling light, gear rental is available in Pokhara before the trek. Asiana Treks & Tours ensures you're properly prepared with a pre-departure checklist.

Most trekkers drive from pokhara to Chhomrong, Nepal’s adventure capital. From there, Asiana Treks & Tours arranges private transportation to Nayapul or Jhinu, the usual starting points for the short ABC trek. The return follows the same route back to Pokhara, allowing for a convenient and smooth travel experience.

While the trail is well-trodden, having a guide is highly recommended—especially for a short itinerary where timing, navigation, and local insight are crucial. With Asiana Treks & Tours, your guide not only ensures safety and efficient pacing but also enhances your experience through cultural interaction and trail expertise. Solo trekkers can join group departures or request a private guided trek.

Yes, travel insurance is mandatory, and it should cover high-altitude trekking up to at least 4,500 meters, medical emergencies, and helicopter evacuation if needed. You’ll be asked to submit proof of insurance before the trek begins.

With years of experience, local expertise, and a deep commitment to responsible travel, Asiana Treks & Tours offers a seamless trekking experience where safety, comfort, and cultural connection come first. Our carefully curated ABC Short Trek balances efficiency with enjoyment, giving you the magic of the Himalayas even on a tight schedule. From planning to execution, we provide personal attention, knowledgeable guides, and excellent service—making your 5-day journey unforgettable.

Altitude training isn’t mandatory for the ABC Short Trek, but it can help if you live at sea level. Engaging in cardiovascular activities like hiking, running, or cycling a few weeks prior helps improve stamina. The trek involves some quick altitude gains, so physical preparation can minimize the risk of altitude sickness. Asiana Treks & Tours offers guidance on pre-trek fitness and ensures that your pace during the trek allows for safe acclimatization.

Yes, Asiana Treks & Tours offers flexible trekking itineraries. While the 5-day ABC Short Trek is designed for efficiency, it can be customized to include extra acclimatization days, alternative routes, or add-ons like a hot spring visit at Jhinu. Whether you want to trek slower, add sightseeing in Pokhara, or extend to other regions, the team is happy to tailor the trip to your preferences, fitness level, and available time.

Your trek will be led by a licensed guide with strong local knowledge, first-aid skills, and English fluency. A porter will carry up to 20 kg of shared baggage between two trekkers. Larger groups may have assistant guides. Asiana Treks & Tours ensures all staff are insured, fairly paid, and equipped with proper gear. Their friendly and professional team not only ensures your safety but also enhances your overall trekking experience.

ATMs are available in Pokhara and some villages like Chhomrong, but they are unreliable. It’s best to carry enough cash (Nepali rupees) for snacks, tips, or personal expenses. Mobile signals (mainly NTC and Ncell) are available in parts of the trail, though connectivity can be spotty at higher elevations. Asiana Treks & Tours recommends informing family before the trek and using local SIM cards for better connectivity during the journey.

Toilets on the trail are mostly shared and basic, typically squat-style in teahouses, although some have Western-style toilets. Hot showers are available in most lodges for an extra fee, but the water may be solar-heated and limited. Higher up, amenities become more basic. Asiana Treks & Tours ensures hygienic accommodation choices and advises trekkers to carry personal toiletries and quick-dry towels for convenience.

Yes, with some precautions. Physically active children above 10 and seniors in good health can enjoy the ABC Short Trek. The key is pacing, hydration, and adequate rest. Asiana Treks & Tours customizes the itinerary based on group needs and ensures additional support like assistant guides or more frequent breaks. Consulting a doctor before the trek is advised for both young and older participants.

In case of illness or injury, Asiana Treks & Tours guides carry first-aid kits and can arrange rapid evacuation via helicopter if necessary. The company maintains communication with local rescue services and always prioritizes your safety. Having travel insurance that covers helicopter evacuation is crucial. Your guide will continuously assess your condition and make decisions in your best interest, ensuring you're in safe hands throughout the journey.

Beyond stunning mountain views, the ABC trek immerses you in the rich Gurung and Magar cultures. Villages like Chhomrong offer a glimpse into traditional Nepali lifestyles, architecture, and hospitality. You may witness local farming, taste authentic food, and even enjoy cultural songs or dances. Asiana Treks & Tours encourages respectful interaction with locals and provides insights into the customs, festivals, and beliefs of the region, enriching your trekking experience beyond the physical challenge.
