Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400 m / 4,593 ft) – Rest & Short Walk in Thamel
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, our representative will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your luxury hotel in the heart of the city. After check-in and a refreshing rest, you'll enjoy a relaxed evening walk through the vibrant streets of Thamel, Kathmandu’s popular tourist hub. The area is filled with colourful shops, cafes, local art galleries, and trekking gear stores. This short walk helps you acclimatise gently while immersing yourself in the local vibe.
Trek Briefing, Equipment Check & Short Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour
Today begins with a detailed trek briefing from your expert guide. We’ll go over the route, altitude tips, and safety measures for the Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek. Your trekking gear and equipment will be reviewed, and any necessary items can be rented or purchased as needed.
Later, enjoy a guided sightseeing tour to a few iconic landmarks. First, visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its ancient palaces and temples. Then, unwind in the tranquil Garden of Dreams, a neoclassical oasis in the middle of the city. Afterwards, return to your hotel to pack and prepare for your early morning flight to Lukla—the gateway to Everest.
After a hearty early breakfast at your luxury 5-star hotel or resort in Kathmandu, we head to the airport for our scenic flight to Lukla. During the peak trekking seasons, flights are often redirected from Ramechhap Airport due to air traffic. In such cases, we drive approximately 4 hours to Ramechhap early in the morning before boarding our short 20-minute flight to Lukla, the gateway to Everest.
Upon landing in Lukla, we meet our porters and begin the trek with a gentle descent. The trail passes through Cheplung, offering views of verdant hills, prayer flags, stone walls, and charming Sherpa villages rich in Buddhist culture and tradition. The trail continues steadily alongside the Dudh Koshi River, passing small settlements like Thadokoshi, and lush landscapes with mani stones and colourful stupas.
By afternoon, we arrive in Phakding, where you'll check in at Yeti Mountain Home, a luxurious lodge offering full amenities, including private rooms with en-suite bathrooms, organic meals, and serene riverside surroundings. It’s the perfect place to relax and recharge after your first day on the trail.
After breakfast in Phakding, we begin our scenic trek to Namche Bazaar, the Sherpa capital of the Khumbu region. The trail meanders through dense pine forests and charming Sherpa villages, with several crossings over swaying suspension bridges draped in prayer flags over the Dudh Koshi River—sometimes on the left, sometimes on the right side.
We pass through Tok Tok and Benkar, where you'll notice massive boulders inscribed with the sacred Buddhist mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum". After a short uphill climb, we arrive at Monjo, the entry point of Sagarmatha National Park. Here, your trekking permits are verified before continuing down to Jorsalle, where we stop briefly for lunch.
Shortly after crossing another suspension bridge, the trail begins a challenging uphill climb from the confluence of the Dudh Koshi and Imja Khola rivers. A highlight of this section is the Hillary Suspension Bridge, the highest and longest in the region. As we ascend through tranquil rhododendron and pine forests, we reach Top Danda (Top Dhara)—the first viewpoint to spot Mt. Everest (on a clear day).
After a final permit check at the army post, we make our way to Namche Bazaar, a bustling Sherpa town nestled in a natural amphitheatre. Overnight at Yeti Mountain Home or a similar deluxe lodge, complete with heated blankets, hot showers, and gourmet meals.
Next, we hike uphill to Syangboche Airstrip—one of the world’s highest airports. From here, we continue to the famous Everest View Hotel, known for its stunning panorama of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Tawache. Enjoy a hot cup of tea or coffee while soaking in these majestic Himalayan views.
We descend to the traditional Sherpa village of Khumjung, where you’ll have lunch overlooking serene mountain valleys. Afterwards, we explore the Khumjung Monastery, which is believed to house the mythical Yeti’s scalp, followed by visits to the Hillary School and Hillary Hospital—two iconic establishments initiated by Sir Edmund Hillary.
Later in the afternoon, we hike back to Namche Bazaar for an overnight stay at your deluxe accommodation, such as Yeti Mountain Home or similar.
After a relaxed breakfast, we begin our trek towards Deboche, descending gently from Namche to Kyangjuma and then Sanasa. At Sanasa, the trail splits—one path leads to Gokyo Valley, while we continue along the Everest Base Camp trail. Descending through forests and across hillside paths, we reach Lobisyasa and then Phunki Tenga, a peaceful riverside area where most trekkers stop for lunch.
Post-lunch, we begin a two-hour uphill hike through lush rhododendron and pine forests, steadily climbing toward Tengboche. At the top lies the magnificent Tengboche Monastery, one of the most important spiritual centres in the Khumbu region. You’ll have time to explore the monastery, witness local rituals, and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding peaks including Ama Dablam, Everest, and Kangtega.
From Tengboche, it’s a short 30-minute descent to Deboche, a quieter area nestled among trees and mountain views. Here, we check into our luxury lodge for a warm and peaceful overnight stay, surrounded by serene Himalayan landscapes.
After a hearty breakfast at your luxury lodge in Deboche, we begin our trek toward Dingboche, passing through serene alpine landscapes. A short 15-minute walk brings us to Milinggo, from where we cross a scenic suspension bridge over the Imja Khola River.
The trail gradually ascends through pine and rhododendron forest, revealing a beautifully adorned Buddhist stupa with painted Buddha eyes, symbolizing wisdom and protection. After this spiritual landmark, we reach Pangboche, home to one of the oldest monasteries in the Khumbu region. The traditional Sherpa village offers stunning views of Ama Dablam and a unique window into high Himalayan culture.
From Pangboche, the trail follows the Imja River, occasionally appearing on the left-hand side, leading us to the wide yak pasturelands of Somare. This peaceful village is perfect for a lunch break, with panoramic views and grazing yaks in the foreground.
After lunch, we continue toward Orsho, where the trail passes memorials dedicated to climbers who lost their lives on Everest. The trail soon splits—left leads to Pheriche, while we take the right-hand path that follows the Imja Khola up to Dingboche.
Dingboche is a picturesque high-altitude village surrounded by dramatic mountain walls and agricultural fields enclosed by stone walls to protect crops from the cold wind. You’ll stay overnight at Hotel Bright Star or another top-tier luxury lodge, enjoying modern comforts in the heart of the Himalayas.
Today is your second acclimatization day, crucial for adapting to the increasing altitude. After a relaxed breakfast, we begin a day hike to Nangkartshang Gompa, followed by a steady climb up to Nangkartshang Peak. This hike offers some of the most breathtaking panoramic views of the trek—featuring Ama Dablam, Makalu, Island Peak, and Thamserku.
The trail is gradual at first but becomes steeper as we ascend. At the peak, you’ll reach an elevation nearly equal to Lobuche, offering valuable pre-acclimatisation for upcoming higher altitudes. After spending time soaking in the views and capturing stunning photographs, we descend slowly back to Dingboche.
Enjoy the rest of the day relaxing in your comfortable luxury lodge. You may choose to explore the local village, interact with Sherpa locals, or simply unwind with warm tea and Mountain views.
After a rejuvenating night in Dingboche, we begin our trek to Lobuche, continuing our journey deeper into the heart of the Everest region. The trail gradually ascends through open yak pastures, offering magnificent views of Cholatse, Arakam Tse, and the twin peaks of Taboche and Tawache. To your back, you’ll see the ridgeline of Thamserku and the expansive Khumbu Valley unrolling below.
Along the way, we encounter herds of yaks—some grazing peacefully and others carrying supplies to Lobuche and Gorakshep. This section of the trail immerses you in authentic Himalayan life and landscapes.
After a few hours of gentle climbing, we reach Thukla (Dughla), a small settlement with three to four lodges located at the edge of the Khumbu Khola. Here, we pause for a well-earned lunch, enjoying nourishing food and a peaceful alpine ambience.
After lunch, we begin a steeper ascent to the Thukla Pass, a ridge adorned with numerous memorial chortens honouring climbers who lost their lives in pursuit of Everest. One of the most prominent among them is the memorial for Babu Chiri Sherpa, a legendary climber who once held the record for the fastest Everest summit.
From the top of the ridge, we’re treated to a spectacular view of Pumori (7,165 m)—an iconic peak standing like a sentinel over the valley. The trail then gently climbs along the eastern bank of the Khumbu Glacier, with a distant view of the Cho La Pass trail.
Finally, we arrive in Lobuche, a remote but essential stopover point before reaching Everest Base Camp. We stay overnight at Eco Himalaya Lodge or Hotel Oxygen, where luxury meets altitude in warm, well-equipped accommodations.
Today marks one of the most awaited highlights of the Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek. After a warm breakfast and stunning sunrise in Lobuche, we trek towards Gorakshep, the final settlement before Everest Base Camp.
The trail leads through a narrow passage nestled between Khumbu Glacier and ancient glacial moraine. On the left lies the Italian Pyramid Research Centre, and on the right, the rugged Khumbu Glacier—a shifting sea of ice and boulders. Beneath your feet lies the ground-up debris of glacial erosion, and you can visibly witness how climate change is altering this high-altitude ecosystem, with the glacier retreating year by year.
As we carefully navigate this rocky and gravel-laden trail, the landscape grows increasingly stark and dramatic. After a few hours, we reach Gorakshep, a humble outpost nestled below Everest and its neighbouring giants. Here, we enjoy lunch and take some time to acclimatise.
In the afternoon, we hike to the legendary Everest Base Camp (EBC)—the starting point for summit expeditions. Surrounded by towering ice seracs and mighty Himalayan peaks, you’ll stand on the historic ground where countless Everest dreams have taken shape. The experience is deeply moving and one of the most awe-inspiring moments of the journey.
After spending time at EBC capturing photos and soaking in the views, we hike back to Gorakshep for the night. Your luxury accommodation at Everest INN awaits with cosy comforts and exceptional service at the foot of the world’s highest mountain.
Today is one of the most thrilling and unforgettable highlights of your Everest adventure. We rise early in the morning, usually before dawn, to embark on a sunrise hike to Kala Patthar, the most famous vantage point to witness Mount Everest glowing in the first light of day.
Your guide will advise you on the exact departure time, depending on weather and sunrise. The ascent takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace. The trail is steep but manageable, and you’ll be rewarded with unparalleled 360-degree views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Pumori, and the vast Khumbu Glacier.
After a hearty breakfast in Pheriche (or from your helicopter return point), we begin our descent back to Namche Bazaar, following the same scenic route through Tengboche, Deboche, and Phunki Tenga.
The downhill walk is easier and faster, allowing more time to soak in the natural beauty, lush rhododendron forests, and dramatic river valleys. We retrace our footsteps past the majestic Tengboche Monastery and continue to Sanasa, eventually reaching Namche Bazaar by late afternoon.
Back in Namche, we check in at your luxury hotel, enjoy hot showers, rest, and savour the comfort of a warm bed after several high-altitude days. Enjoy your evening in this bustling Sherpa town with coffee shops, bakeries, and local handicraft stores.

The itinerary is designed for comfort with gradual acclimatization, experienced guides, and porters to carry your gear. It blends adventure with comfort, allowing you to enjoy the beauty of the Everest region without compromising on accommodation or services.
Although the Everest Luxury Trek is more comfortable in terms of accommodations, it still requires a good level of physical fitness. You will be hiking up to 5-7 hours per day at high altitudes, with the highest point being Kala Patthar at 5,545 meters. Prior trekking experience isn't mandatory, but cardiovascular fitness, stamina, and mental determination are essential. Regular training involving walking, hiking, or aerobic exercises before the trek is highly recommended by Asiana Treks and Tours.
Altitude sickness can affect anyone above 2,500 meters, regardless of age or fitness level. However, Asiana Treks and Tours has built-in acclimatization days in Namche Bazaar and Dingboche to minimize the risk. The pace is slow and steady, allowing your body to adjust naturally. Our guides are trained in altitude-related illnesses and carry oximeters and first-aid kits. If needed, helicopter evacuation options are available, and insurance that covers high-altitude trekking is mandatory.
During the Everest Luxury Trek, you’ll stay in the best luxury lodges available, such as Yeti Mountain Home and Everest Summit Lodges. In such cases, Asiana Treks and Tours coordinates with airlines and may arrange helicopter transfers (extra cost may apply) if needed. We advise travelers to keep at least one buffer day in their itinerary to accommodate such disruptions. Our staff in Kathmandu and Lukla work closely to minimize any inconvenience caused.

Asiana Treks and Tours values fair treatment of porters and ensures ethical working conditions with proper gear and insurance.
Temperatures vary depending on the season and altitude. In lower areas like Lukla or Namche, daytime temperatures can be mild (10–15°C), but at higher elevations like Lobuche or Gorakshep, it can drop to -10°C or lower at night. Asiana Treks and Tours provides a detailed gear checklist, including warm layers, down jackets, gloves, and thermal wear. Asiana Treks and Tours suggests a collective tip from the group, which is distributed fairly among guides and porters. A tipping guideline will be shared during the trek briefing. The amount can vary depending on the group size and duration of the trek, but it's always a generous gesture of gratitude.
