Overview

Overview

Poon Hill and Everest Panorama Trekking is an awe-inspiring adventure combining two popular tourist-friendly trekking destinations in Nepal's breathtaking Annapurna and Everest regions. This trekking experience allows you to immerse yourself in the majestic Himalayan landscape, witness panoramic views of towering peaks, explore charming local villages, and experience the rich cultural heritage of Nepal.
Poon Hill Trekking lies in the Annapurna region of Nepal and is famous for its stunning sunrise views over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. The trek to Poon Hill is a relatively short and accessible journey, making it a popular choice for both seasoned trekkers and beginners alike. You travel along the trail through dense rhododendron forests,  terraced fields, and charming villages inhabited by the indigenous Gurung and Magar communities.
The trek to Poon Hill usually begins from Nayapul, a small village near Pokhara. As you ascend through picturesque landscapes, you'll pass through culturally rich villages such as Tikhedhunga, Ghorepani, and Tadapani. Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to connect with friendly locals, learn about their traditions, and taste delicious Nepalese cuisine.
The highlight of the Poon Hill trek is undoubtedly the mesmerizing sunrise view from the hilltop. Before dawn, you'll make your way up to the viewpoint, where you'll witness the first rays of sunlight painting the snow-capped peaks in hues of gold and pink. The panoramic vistas include famous mountains like Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and Dhaulagiri, creating an unforgettable spectacle.
After the Poon Hill experience, the trekking journey continues toward the Everest region, specifically the Everest Panorama trek. This part of the adventure offers a glimpse into the world of the legendary Mount Everest, the highest peak on the planet. The hike begins with a short flight from Pokhara to Lukla, a small town located in the Khumbu region.
As you traverse the Everest Panorama trail, you'll be immersed in the stunning Himalayan landscape, featuring lush forests, glacial rivers, and picturesque Sherpa villages. The trail leads you to Namche Bazaar, a bustling town and the gateway to the Everest region. Here, you'll have an opportunity to acclimatize and explore the vibrant local market, where climbers and trekkers from around the world gather.
Continuing, you'll trek to the village of Tengboche, home to the famous Tengboche Monastery, a spiritual hub for the Sherpa community. The monastery offers breathtaking views of Everest, Ama Dablam, and other surrounding peaks. This place's serene ambience and spiritual significance make it a truly memorable stop on the journey.
While the Everest Panorama trek does not take you to the Everest Base Camp, it still offers magnificent views of Everest and the neighbouring peaks. You'll have the opportunity to visit viewpoints like Everest View Hotel and Khumjung Village, which provide panoramic vistas of the Himalayas, including Everest itself.
Throughout the Poon Hill and Everest Panorama trekking experience, you'll be accompanied by experienced guides and porters who will ensure your safety, provide valuable insights into the local culture, and assist with logistics along the way. Depending on your itinerary and pace, travellers could complete it in 12-14 days.
It's worth mentioning that proper physical fitness and acclimatization are essential for this trek, as you'll be trekking at altitudes ranging from 3210 meters (10528 feet) to 3,890 meters (12,759 feet).
