You'll get fifteen breakfasts, eleven lunches, and ten dinners during the Trek. The menu includes local, Asian, and Western dishes, but it gets more straightforward as you climb higher. Try popular Nepali foods like lentils, rice, curry, dumplings, noodles, Spagaties, and many more. We highly recommend eating fresh vegetables and drinking liquids like green tea, lemon tea, hot lemon, ginger tea, and garlic soup, especially at high altitudes. While non-vegetarian options are available during the Trek, we suggest avoiding them for hygiene reasons. It's also best to steer clear of dairy, cheese, alcohol, caffeine, and hot chocolate. Personal expenses like alcoholic drinks and extra beverages at lodges or cafes aren't included in the package.

    Drinking water:

Nepal is the second country in the world in terms of water sources after Brazil. According to the Nepal government, only 27% of people here have clean drinking water. You can buy mineral water in teahouses, but it is expensive; people prefer plastic bottles in some trekking areas. So, there are some safe drinking water stations where you can refill your bottle. However, we recommend carrying Steripen, iodine drops, water purification tablets for safe drinking, and refillable water bottles for boiled or filtered water. We strongly advise not to drink from taps, wells, and rivers in trekking areas. However, in all the city areas, Mineral water is available at a reasonable cost everywhere.

    Extra Personal Expenses:

While most expenses during the Trek are covered, you'll need to spend money on accommodations and meals in Kathmandu and Pokhara, souvenirs, and additional beverages. We estimate about USD 10-20 per trekking day for miscellaneous expenses.

Toilet Facilities Ghorepani Poon hill Ghandruk Trekking:

Most teahouses have Western-style flush toilets during mountain treks, especially at lower elevations. But as you go higher, you will find simple squat toilets along the trails and teahouses at higher altitudes. These toilets usually have water or toilet paper, but it's a good idea to bring your toilet paper just in case. You can also use restrooms at nearby teahouses or find a private spot along the trekking routes.

    Internet Connectivity:

While trekking in the Himalayan region of Nepal, connecting with your family and friends is also a good idea. You can find internet access at teahouses and lodges, but it might be for an extra minimal cost. The signal might be weak because of the remote location. You can also get internet access using a local SIM card and data packages available at Kathmandu airport or nearby shops in Thamel and Pokhara. You'll need a passport-sized photo and a copy of your passport to get a SIM card. It's a good idea to compare prices and data packages from telecom companies like Ncell and Nepal Telecom before buying. Knowing about teahouse connectivity. Our guide will suggest connections for you.

    Electricity voltage and plugs:

However, 95 % of Nepali people have access to electricity as of May 29, 2023. Almost all popular trekking routes, teahouses, and lodges have electricity. However, some isolated and solo trekking tea houses in the jungle don't have electricity; Most tea houses let travelers charge their devices for a small fee. The average electrical voltage in Nepal is 230 volts, with plug types like Type C, Type D, and Type M. Travellers should bring a suitable adapter and, if needed, a voltage converter for their electronic devices.

    Communication:

The guest houses in the trekking regions have internet access. You can buy a SIM card at Tribhuvan International Airport Kathmandu and Pokhara. However, the signal may need to be more assertive at high altitudes. Our office keeps in touch with all trekking teams via the trek guide at least once daily to ensure everything goes as planned.

Suppose you have extra days in Nepal after the Trek. In that case, we can arrange a tour, overnight stay at Nagarkot Balthali or any other place around Kathmandu and Chitwan, jungle safari, paragliding, rafting, canyoning, or other treks. Frequently Asked Questions

The Ghorepani Poonhill Ghandruk Trek is one of the most scenic and culturally rich short treks in the Annapurna region. Offered by Asiana Treks & Tours, this 5-day journey from Pokhara takes you through charming villages, lush rhododendron forests, and terraced farmlands, culminating in the iconic sunrise view from Poon Hill (3,210 meters). This trek is ideal for beginners and families looking to experience the Himalayas without requiring high-altitude hiking or technical expertise.

This trek is famous for its breathtaking sunrise from Poon Hill, which offers panoramic views of Annapurna I, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and other Himalayan peaks. Other highlights include exploring traditional Gurung and Magar villages like Ghorepani and Ghandruk, interacting with local people, and enjoying the diverse flora and fauna of the Annapurna Conservation Area. The scenic drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and back also adds to the overall experience.

The Ghorepani Poonhill Ghandruk Trek is considered moderate in difficulty. It is suitable for people with a basic level of fitness and some walking experience. Daily walking ranges from 4 to 6 hours, with well-maintained trails and teahouses along the way. While there are several uphill and downhill sections, especially between Ulleri and Ghorepani, the pace is manageable and no prior trekking experience is required.

Asiana Treks & Tours arranges accommodation in clean and comfortable local teahouses or lodges along the trail. These lodges offer twin-sharing rooms with basic amenities. Meals during the trek typically include local Nepali dishes like dal bhat, as well as Tibetan bread, noodles, soup, eggs, and Western options. Vegetarian meals are widely available, and all meals are freshly prepared. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included in the trekking package.

Yes, all treks organized by Asiana Treks & Tours are accompanied by experienced, English-speaking guides who are licensed by the Nepal Tourism Board. Having a guide not only ensures your safety but also enhances your cultural experience. Porters are also available to help carry your bags, allowing you to fully enjoy the trek without being burdened by heavy loads.

Yes, the necessary permits are included in the package. For this trek, you will need two permits: the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and the Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) card. Asiana Treks & Tours handles all permit arrangements on your behalf.

Since this is a short trek at moderate altitude, pack light but smart. Essentials include trekking boots, layered clothing (thermal wear, fleece, and a light jacket), a raincoat, sunscreen, sunglasses, a reusable water bottle, toiletries, a hat, and personal medication. A detailed packing list will be provided by Asiana Treks & Tours upon booking.

The best seasons for the Ghorepani Poonhill Ghandruk Trek are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). During these months, the skies are clear, temperatures are mild, and the views are outstanding. Spring also offers the bonus of blooming rhododendron forests. Winter treks are possible but can be colder, especially in higher villages.

Yes, we highly recommend that all trekkers have comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and evacuation services. While the trek doesn’t go to extremely high altitudes, accidents or illness can happen, and it’s best to be prepared.

Absolutely. Asiana Treks & Tours specializes in tailor-made trekking experiences. If you’d like to extend your stay, adjust the pace, or add cultural tours in Pokhara or Kathmandu, we are happy to customize the itinerary to match your needs and preferences.

Booking is simple. You can visit our official website or contact us directly via email or phone. Once we confirm your preferred dates, a small advance payment secures your spot. The remaining balance can be paid upon arrival in Pokhara. We also provide pre-trek briefings and support to ensure a smooth experience from start to finish.

You should have moderate fitness—be comfortable walking 3–5 hours on uneven terrain with a 5–7 kg daypack. Cardiovascular exercise (brisk walking, jogging, stair climbing) 4–6 weeks before helps. Strong ankles, knees, and core endurance reduce fatigue. As the trek includes uphill climbs, descendings, and stairs, prior leg conditioning is valuable. You don’t need mountaineering experience, but a healthy and active person will enjoy the trek more comfortably.

This route has a gradual ascent, which assists in acclimatization. The biggest gain is from Pokhara → Tikhedhunga and then to Ghorepani. By pacing your hikes, avoiding sudden altitude jumps, staying hydrated, and resting, your body adapts. The itinerary includes moderate daily hiking distance without extreme altitude changes. If someone shows symptoms of altitude sickness, you descend or rest. The guide monitors health and ensures safe progress.

Challenges include altitude sickness, fatigue, steep stone steps, trail erosion, unpredictable weather (rain, fog), slippery paths, cold nights, and occasional landslides or trail blockages. Medical facilities are limited in remote stretches. Power outages may occur. Fitness, caution, proper gear, and an experienced guide mitigate most risks. Asiana Treks & Tours carries first aid kits, emergency plans, and evacuation options.

Tea houses along this route operate year-round, but services scale down in off‑peak (monsoon, deep winter). In peak seasons (spring & autumn), lodges are more bustling and sometimes crowded, so early booking helps. Shared rooms and common dining halls are standard. Lodges may charge extra for premium rooms or services (hot shower, charging). Asiana Treks & Tours books in advance to secure lodging in key stops.

Yes, most lodges offer electricity (hydropower or solar) and charging outlets, usually in dining areas or a central point—but for a fee per device or per hour.  Private rooms may not always have outlets. During peak season, you may queue for charging, so bring a power bank and minimize usage to conserve energy.

Guides from Asiana Treks & Tours typically speak English fluently, and many know basic phrases of other languages (French, German, Spanish) depending on demand. They also speak Nepali, local dialects (Gurung, Magar) and act as interpreters. Their training includes safety, culture, and geology, so they share local stories, ecology, and route insights in language comfortable for you.

No strict age limit, but trekkers should be in good health. Children under about 10 years old may struggle with long daily hikes at moderate altitude; some agencies waive permit fees for very young ones. Elderly individuals or those with medical conditions should consult a physician. Asiana Treks & Tours evaluates each participant’s fitness and may suggest slower pacing or alternative routes to suit.

Asiana Treks & Tours arranges emergency protocols: guide carries first aid kit, satellite phone or mobile when possible, knowledge of nearest health posts, and evacuation plans (foot, jeep, or helicopter if needed). In case of serious illness or injury, the guide arranges descent to lower altitude or hospital. Insurance covering evacuation is crucial. The agency remains reachable and coordinates rescue or support if necessary.

The total cost depends on group size, season, and service level, but typically for such a 5‑day trek via Ghorepani–Ghandruk, you might expect USD 300 to 600 per person (or equivalent in NPR), inclusive of transport, permits, guide, porter, meals, lodgings, and logistical support. Upgrades (private rooms, extra staff, off‑route detours) raise the price. Ask Asiana Treks & Tours for a precise quotation.

Extra Personal Expenses During the Ghorepani Poonhill Ghandruk Trekking

While most of your costs are covered by Asiana Treks and Tours’ package, some extra personal expenses should be budgeted during the Ghorepani Poonhill Ghandruk Trek. These include hot showers, Wi-Fi, phone charging, snacks, drinks, laundry, and tips for your guide and porter. You may also want to purchase souvenirs, local handicrafts, or use internet services in some teahouses.

Prices tend to increase with elevation. A hot shower may cost NPR 200–500, while Wi-Fi or charging may be NPR 100–300 per device. Toilet Facilities Along the Ghorepani Poonhill Ghandruk Trekking

Toilet facilities during the Ghorepani Poonhill Ghandruk Trek are generally basic, but improving steadily due to increased tourism. Most teahouses offer shared western-style or squat toilets, typically located outside or on the same floor as the guest rooms. While the facilities are clean, they may not match western standards, so it’s recommended to bring your own toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and wipes as these are often not provided.

As you ascend higher into the hills, facilities may become more rustic, especially in older lodges. Teahouses in Ghorepani and Ghandruk tend to have better infrastructure than smaller villages. Travelers should also be prepared to use eco-toilets or composting toilets in some areas, which are environmentally friendly.

    Key Points:

Most lodges have basic western or squat toilets.

Toilet paper is not always provided — bring your own.

Facilities are cleaner in major villages (Ghorepani, Ghandruk).

Asiana Treks and Tours carefully selects lodges with the best available amenities, prioritizing both hygiene and comfort.

Teahouses provide charging points for electronic devices such as phones, cameras, and power banks, but access is not always free. Charging fees typically range from NPR 100 to 300 depending on location and demand.

It’s advisable to carry a power bank or solar charger, especially for higher altitudes or during cloudy seasons when solar electricity can be inconsistent. Charging is usually available in the dining area, and you may need to queue during peak hours in the evening.

Electricity is available in all major villages.

Charging phones and batteries may cost extra (NPR 100–300).

Asiana Treks and Tours recommends bringing multi-plug adapters and charging during meal times to avoid rush.

Hot showers are available in most lodges for a small fee (NPR 100–300), typically powered by gas or solar. In colder areas like Tadapani, availability may depend on weather.
